Yes … we got some judged flying in !!! Its been 6 months since our last event, in March up at Tect Park.
Venue was the JR Airsail site, just south of the Bombays, near Mercer.
Weather forecast was bit rubbish, with strong winds predicted, but we flew all day, and even had lunch in the sun.
This was our first competition event since “The Rona” lockdown hit in March, and put an end to the rest of the events we had planned in April / May.
Not a bad turnout, but a think a few stayed away cause they had market days & and cycling rallies to attend.
Far too windy for the Clubman guys, Kerry “Smokey” Oakley and Anthony Wright who both had light models.
So we flew Classic up first, these models carve up the sky, the wind is not a problem. We had Bogan with his Magic, Lyndon Perry with his Phoenix (a build that Laurie Chrystal started years ago), and Aaron Maitland flying his small but ballistic Extra 300 (no classic bonus points, Sparky is on the lookout for a classic airframe, after his UFO blew apart recently).
Next up we had 2 in Masters A20 – Paul Tomlinson with his BiSide (kenwood contra now fixed) and John Danks dusted off his Integral for its annual outing. JD starting to catch up to Paul in the 3rd round.
Lunchtime the sun came out, and sheltered from the wind, it was a great spot for some tasty Burgers, thanks Kerry for your help on the Barby !!
F3A we had two fliers, John Knox and Granny. By now it was windy, probably 20 knots almost directly across the strip, blowing out. Granny ran out of juice before the end in round 1, and John flying big, his batteries were coming out hot hot hot. Things starting to get a lot closer on the scores between these two in round 3.
