The Rumble 2012 - 2,3,4,5 February

Howdy all

Its only 2 months till the RUMBLE !!!

This thread is for all things "Rumble" related, and people have started asking "whats going on Bogan ?!?" ... so time to get this thing pumping.

First of all .... we owe Alex Wardley aka "Loomey" from the HBRF club a huge vote of thanks for his efforts over the past few months ... a few months ago Worms tried to run an IMAC comp at the Awatoto Field, and as things have changed at CAA, it was a no longer as simple as ringing the tower to get permission to use the airspace over 400 feet. To cut a long story short, Loomey has been tirelessly working with CAA to sort the airspace problem, with submission, emails, phone calls, I think at one stage he even had to get into the gimp suit !!! anyway, about a week ago we got the green light. To cut a long story short ... if you are standing at the bar, and loomey is in sight, buy the man a beer FFS !

So, on with the details. Venue will be Awatoto once again in the Hawkes Bay. Home of the Hawkes Bay Radio Flyers. This is such a great site, and the local infrastructure of Napier and Hastings close by makes life easy for us to hire all the stuff to make the gig happen. Plus Liquor King now know exactly where we are for those very important daily deliveries !

The dates ... Waitangi weekend in February !! Whoop Whoop ... for years I have been saying the only National public holiday we have in NZ, where it falls at a time of year we could actually hold a flying comp with reliable weather, is Waitangi Weekend. You think about it ... Queens Birthday, Easter, Labour Weekend ... all crap weather. Local holidays don't help those travelling from afar, either. Every now and again Waitangi day falls on a Monday / Friday, making it a long weekend. (What's up with that ? Is it not our national day ? It should always be a 3 day weekend ... I'll have a talk to John about it).

When the HBRF club announced they would move their Warbirds event off Waitaingi weekend, I pounced on it. I have been to the HBRF Warbirds flyin's on Waitangi weekend for as long as I can remember, and the weather has always been scorching. So the big question is ... do we fly on the Waitangi Day monday ? nope, I've decided its best we fly Friday, Saturday, Sunday as per usual, and Monday is a day when you can meandor home at your own pace. The guys who have travelled from far away have this whole day to get home, and one less day needed off work. It means we can go a bit later into the day on Sunday. And if you live in the Hawkes Bay, what will you do on the Monday ? Well you better find something, or your Mrs will have you in the garden for sure ! You can come back to the field an help us take down the Marquee.

So just in case you don't know when Waitaingi Weekend is, its February 2,3,4,5 February. Thursday will be the practice day as we have done in the past. The event will start Friday morning. I bet as per last year, guys will be there on Wednesday, which is probably the day the Marquee will go up.

Camping at the field ... well this made it awesome last year, the whole atmosphere was really great, so we will be doing this again, with a few improvements ... DOUBLE SHOWER BLOCK !!! ... yes, because we have moved the event a little further foward, we don't clash with other massive events in the area, and we have secured a double shower setup for this year. This means you can camp at the field again like last time, and the queue to wash your junk in the morning will be half as long. If you want a Caravan, then you better book one. We have the contact details for the guys who we got Caravans off last year, and they worked out to be about 50 per night, plus 50 for delivery, so if you can get a couple of people together, its easier than putting up the tent.

Known Sequences ... "Bogan will we be flying the new 2012 Knowns at the Rumble, cause my Mrs has me by the balls and I'll be out on the garden for all of January, and I won't have time to learn the new sequence between the Nats and the Rumble, sniff, sniff sob .... and anyway, its the last event of the 2011 season, so we probably should do the 2011 ones one last time ?".... well this is a good point Loomey, and seen as we have moved the event right to the start of February, then it does not leave much time between the Nats in January, and the Rumble, to learn that new sequence .... so here is what we will do ... Friday and Saturday will be the 2011 Knowns. Then to spice it up on the Sunday, which is a bit like the finals day, we will fly a round of the 2012 Knowns !! So you've got 2 months to get out there and start trying that new 2012 sequence out. When I go to the Shootout, I have 5 knowns to learn, so dry your eyes princess !

Unknowns ... once gain there will be a round of Unknown every day.

TWO FLIGHTLINES .... this is not Australia, but you guys over there are most welcome to join us, and see how well two flightlines works.

Undie Hundie ... of course this will be on again.

What have I missed ?

Oh yeah, we have an International guest star that is keen to come to the Rumble to join in on the fun, trust me, this guy's Freestlye flying will knock your socks off. More details to follows soon.

Marshy and I will have the online entry forms all sorted soon, and in the meantime, if you have any questions, or comments, post them in this thread for all to see !!!

Cheers
Frazer

Gotta luv "Snoopy"
I'm sorry to have cut what he was saying but it was only weather related as he was still hung over from previous night! Besides he was the only one I managed to catch waiting for the shower in the morning.

New rule just for Ted.

If he doesn't fly Unlimited this year, and flys Advanced instead, and if he wins Advanced he must buy the whole of the registered field a round at the bar.

Ted, you are over flying Advanced, move up buddy haha

Hi M8- That must be the young guy at the nats who brought your plane- good on him. He will be a pilot to watch in the future.
