Waharoa 24th September
This Scale Aerobatics event was originally scheduled to be held at Springhill Model Aero club north of Auckland. However due to technical difficulties obtaining permission to fly off the full sized airfield, the event was shifted to the Matamata club at the last minute.
The weather turned out perfect and the competitor numbers actually rose a little higher than anticipated due to the change of venue, so it all worked out for the best.
All five classes were flown with a handful of competitors in each. Things ran smoothly for the day and there were no major incidents other than a muffler extension falling off a model.
The flying skills ranged as expected from pretty hairy to examples of share brilliance interspersed with quite a bit of..."well I think it was ok" Of course sitting in the judges chair always brings in an element of doubt, indecision and simple..."was that what it was supposed to be" and "how many turns are there in a three turn spin guy's"???
Everyone had a great days flying consisting of three known sequences and one Unknown sequence. All up, a good challenge for everyone for a one day comp.So in summary, a well run comp with thanks to the organisers for a great days flying.

Hi all
The weather up here for the IMAC at Waharoa was mint, probably the first Sept event not rained, blown or fogged out. We got through some great flying with 3 rounds of Known, followed by Unknowns.
The guys down in Norsewood were not so lucky, with some pretty cold windy weather, and the day ended early due to rain. Still they got some practice flying in on the Saturday I hear.
Congratulations to the following people who earned a promo point over the weekend:
Ryan Groves, Jarrod Briggs, Jack Mounsey, Alex Wardley, Barry Russell, Dominic Stevens, Jeff Winter, Anthony Hall, Rodney Ford, John Rodgers, Hamish Galloway
We hope to re run the spring hill event in the months before xmas, maybe early December, we need to suss it out with the club. Maybe to keep the North v South series interesting, another one in Norsewood or Hawkes Bay on the same weekend ? I like this regional thing, it’s a bit like NDC, but without the stop watches or the long socks.
Cheers
