Waharoa IMAC 15 and 16th October

The Waharoa club hosted the Round 6 of the North Island series. Driving through rain in Hamilton I arrived at the field to a light wind down the strip. Bloody good. The comp had 19 pilots which was a good showing and it was good to see Loomy, Ditcho, Worms, Anthony and Barry make it up from the south.

Craig Watkins managed to keep his undercarriage on for the weekend which was good and he showed some solid flying for his second Imac comp, look out sportsman guys.

Like usual the young guns of sportsman were dueling for the lead. Loomy, the youngest acting of the bunch gave a good fight and came in second closly ahead of Grommit, eventually Jack taking a well deserved win. Barry was also flying well to get a deserved 4th placing.

Tea was once again a highlight (Mikeys BD) and it would have turned to kaos had masterchef Loomy not stood up to the plate and organise the kitchen, cheers mate. I think our group must have been the biggest they have had since 1986. The rugby was watched on a 15 inch black and white telly for the first half until Baldrick remembered he had help set up a 50" high def TV in the room nextdoor. The second half was slightly more enjoyable and even better that we could tell which team was holding the ball.

Intermediate was once again a close battle, Mikey as usual was proving to be a good salesman for DA engines with his DLE wimpering along for the comp and struggling through every maneuver with any hint of a verticle line. Dave "Mr Consistant" consitantly put the scores up and pulled out a win and a promotion point, see you in Advanced Dave flying that shiny new extra! Anthony made a new pilot and the extra weight (3 grams) seemed to completley screw up his snaps, or so he says. Anthony came a close 3rd.

Advanced was another tight battle with Ted once again pulling out a good comp and coming in at #1 (Certificates in the post). Worms was bloody close to the win and I am sure the top 3 of advanced will be finding Unlimited a bit more of a challenge, oh yeah Ted, 3 promotion points...

It was a bloody good comp and a huge thanks to Ted for running the comp. It all went really smoothly. We all know how much it costs Ted to drive all the way from Auckland so its awesome to have him make the effort to put the diesel in and drive down. Champion.
