What is IMAC
Welcome to the new home of the New Zealand IMAC. IMAC Aerobatics is a specialised discipline of this fantastic hobby. It is all about flying scale aerobatic aircraft through a sequence of challenging figures. There are 5 different classes in IMAC: Basic, Sportsman, Intermediate, Advanced, and Unlimited. They range from catering for a novice in basic to providing a challenge even for the best fliers in Unlimited. The sequences are set by the Mini-IAC in America, and new ones are released every year. IMAC competitions also include other aspects: Unknown's and Freestyle. Unknown sequences are handed out to pilots the night before they are flown, and no one can fly the sequence before the contest the following day. Freestyle is the 3rd component that is flown at some IMAC comps. In freestyle the pilot is given a set time (3-4 minutes) to do whatever they can and want. Most competitors will fly their routine to music. Freestyle has huge spectator appeal. Check the Event Calendar to find the next IMAC comp near you!
