Report for the First PRECISION AEROBATICS COMP of the Season at JR Airsail field, Pukekawa on Sunday 13 November
With the weather forecast on the Saturday looking ‘not too flash’, the first Precision Aerobatics comp for the 2016~17 season was postponed until Sunday, as John Danks had kindly offered the use of the field. This also allowed for some pilots to fly that could not make it on Saturday, although unfortunately we did loose a couple of Saturdays entries.
Entries weren’t big but this did not deter the spirit of those that did make the effort.
The weather did not exactly pan-out as forecast. It was quite windy much of the time, to say the least.
Four rounds were flown in all three classes with some very nice manoeuvres seen from everyone and a few ‘challenging’ ones, here and there, too.
The judging was spread among everyone with Ron Stone stepping into the chair and doing a very good job of judging F3A along with John Danks and Paul Tomlinson. James Danby, Ross Craighead and I judged Advanced with John Knox, Ross & myself judging Sportsman. Our reliable Sportsman pilots and Shelley Knox pencilled for Advanced and F3A. Thanks to everyone who attended for their assistance.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable comp and pilots appeared happy when they reviewed scores on their score sheets. Manoeuvre of the day was probably Foster’s Take-off & 270 turn … a pearler !

Thanks very much to Sharon & John Danks for the use of the field, the renowned scones & jam and the BBQ lunch.
We’re looking forward to the Xmas Pattern & Pylon meeting on December 17/18 back at the JR Airsail field.
